In 2014, phase one of a new coal terminal is due to open in the Russian port of Vanino. It will have an annual capacity of 5
million tonnes. An additional two expansion phases will allow 25 million tonnes of coal to be handled by 2020. Consignments will mostly be exported to the Asia-Pacific region. The terminal will be linked to coal deposits via a 315 kilometre long railway between Elga and Ulak.
