The new terminals will operate coal, iron ore and car distribution.
The Port of Ennore near Chennai, India have announced the opening of  three new terminals for the distribution of coal, iron ore and cars.
The new terminals are seen as a response to the need of further expansion of the Indian port sector to keep in line with economic growth.
"The coal and iron ore terminals have been developed through private participation on built operate and transfer basis while the car terminal was developed by Ennore Port itself", said Union Shipping Minister, G.K Vasan.
Vasan also commented that with the inauguration of the three new facilities the total handling capacity of the Indian port sector has increased over 1,011 mtpa, according to Calcutta Tube.

The Maritime Agenda which was released early this month intends to develop the Indian Ports Capacity to 3,200 million tonnes by 2020.
With the completion of the three terminals at Ennore  the goals of the Maritime Agenda are beginning to be realised.
