Iron ore imports at the Chinese Port of Rizhao amounted to 78.9 million tonnes last year, a dramatic increase of 50% year-on-year.  Now China's leading iron ore port, Rizhao’s success in boosting traffic is attributable to bureaucratic streamlining introduced by local customs authorities.  The port also benefited from government policy of stimulating domestic demand, which has helped up production at many steel plants in the country.
