Work continues at the Brazilian Port of Rio Grande on extending the Barra Quay 370 metres towards the east and 700 metres towards the West. Dredging is also taking place in the access channel, with work slated for completion in April 2010. The Port Authority hopes that the work will help convert Paranaguá into a hub port for the Mercosul region of South America.
