QMASTOR has been chosen by Vale for the provision of its Pit to Plant and iFuse systems for installation at its Onc¸a Puma nickel operations in the Brazilian state of Para´. QMASTOR will supply Vale with a comprehensive Pit to Plant information system that includes:
- intermediate, buffer and homogenized stockpile management;
- ore blending optimization; and
- mine, intermediate and homogenized stockpiles reconciliation.
The implementation will include automated data transfers for several systems including:
- ABB Control System Historian
- Devex SmartMine
- acQuire
QMASTOR general manager for South America, Dr Paulo Sachs, said “QMASTOR is very pleased to further advance our relationship with Vale within the base metals division.”
Vale Onc¸a Puma general manager of mine operations, Fernando Marino noted “We look forward to partnering with QMASTOR and the benefits in operational efficiency and decision making that their solution will bring.”
QMASTOR’s general manager of sales and marketing, Peter Charnock added “The Onc¸a Puma project extends QMASTOR’s growing base of installations in the nickel market, which already includes Vale’s Goro operations in New Caledonia.”

QMASTOR would also like to acknowledge the role Devex Tecnologia e Sistemas S.A (Devex) has played in facilitating QMASTOR’s entry into the South American market.
