PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) has achieved a record-high coal sales performance in its history. In 2024, PTBA's total coal sales reached 42.9 million tons, growing by 16 percent year-on-year.

For comparison, PTBA's coal sales in 2020 were 26.1 million tons, then 28.4 million tons in 2021, rising to 31.7 million tons in 2022, and further increasing to 37.0 million tons in 2023.

"This record sales achievement was supported by coal exports of 20.3 million tons in 2024, marking a 30 percent increase year-on-year. The Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) reached 22.6 million tons, growing by 6 percent compared to the previous year," said Niko Chandra, Corporate Secretary of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA).

PTBA’s coal sales were primarily driven by the domestic market. However, the proportion of exports has been steadily increasing. Currently, the domestic market accounts for 53 percent, while exports account for 47 percent.
Key markets have been successfully maximized, with exports to India increasing by 32 percent to 6.4 million tons.

Additionally, exports to Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia saw significant growth. Sales to Vietnam surged by 250 percent to 3.0 million tons. Exports to Thailand reached 1.6 million tons, up 153 percent year-on-year, while exports to Malaysia soared by 221 percent to 888.7 thousand tons.

The increase in PTBA’s coal sales was also supported by a record-high coal production of 43.3 million tons and coal transportation of 38.2 million tons throughout 2024.

"With increasingly excellent operational performance, Bukit Asam is ready to provide Endless Energy to achieve energy self-sufficiency, which is part of the Asta Cita, a focus of the government," said Niko.

In 2025, PTBA targets coal production of 50.0 million tons, coal sales of 50.1 million tons, and coal transportation of 43.2 million tons. "The company is making plans by considering current market developments and anticipating various dynamic external factors," Niko emphasized.
