The project to build a dry bulk terminal at the Australian Port Bonython has been granted an environmental licence. Management of the terminal will be undertaken by the Spencer Gulf Port Link Consortium, which was awarded a contract by the government of South Australia. It is headed by the Australian company Flinders Ports, the partners of which are Leighton Contractors, Macquarie Capital, BIS Industrial Logistics and Australian Railtrack Corporation.
Implementation of the terminal will take two-and-a-half years and involved the creation of a 3km-long pier, which will enable Capesize vessels of up to 180,000dwt to dock.
