The number of trucks transporting soya beans, corn and bran into the Brazilian port of Paranaguá increased from 300 per week to 800 per week in the early part of the season. Soya bean traffic commenced in March, whilst the Carnival holiday also prompted an increase in road traffic. Some terminals at the port continued to despatch two commodities, such as sugar and soya, at the same time, although planned to eventually switch over to a single commodity once tonnage levels required this. A record harvest is expected to considerably boosted grain exports by at least 20% this year.
