The Australian port of Newcastle has cut all producers’ shipping allocations by one million tonnes for the third quarter in a bid to reduce growing congestion.
This has resulted in the number of ships queuing for a berth falling from more than 40 to the low thirties.
There has also been a reduction of around 10% in the amount of thermal coal that is being exported.
