Built-in height is often a problem in existing installations, where the customer wishes to install loading chutes as part of the need for creating a better working environment by keeping the dust to a minimum during the loading process. At the same time, the wish from the customer is to have a chute with an integral filter solution in order to avoid the — often costly — installation of duct work to a central filter bag house, and to ensure that the product falls back into the flow.
For many years, Cimbria Bulk Equipment has supplied loading chutes with integral filter, where the filter module is part of the inlet construction. This is a well proven solution when it comes to functionality, but it requires, of course, a certain built-in height for installation. In order to meet customer requests for a loading chute with a low built-in height and a larger filter areal, Cimbria Bulk Equipment has developed two new Moduflex loading chutes, designated as the K & N series. They are based on the Moduflex standard series consisting of loading chutes for loading lighter products such as grain, feedstuff, powders and granules, as well as heavy-duty loading chute series for products such as cement, lime, coal and fly ash or other abrasive products.
The new series is characterized by being equipped with a side-mounted filter so the built-in height is virtually the same as a non-filter loading chute. At the same time, it has been possible to increase the filter surface area, which in some cases are needed to handle particular products.
The filter is mounted on rectangular flange built out on a transition piece from the inlet part of the chute. The filter can as standard be supplied with the 300–400 and 500 series of the Moduflex loading chutes. The chutes can be supplied with a filter areal ranging from 9–24m2. Furthermore, the chutes are available with a wide range of accessories which all together make the chutes suitable for various applications and capable of handling increased capacities. The K & N series can likewise be delivered in ATEX zone configuration.
The filter must externally be supplied with 3–4 bar pressurized air and the control of the filter is normally done by the PLC in the control box of the loading chute. The side- mounted filter is characterized by being very service friendly as it provides easy access to replacement of filter units and magnetic valves.
Cimbria Bulk Equipment has already delivered more than 100 loading chutes of these specific applications, and the series are therefore well-tested and has proven to work successfully. With the recent launch of these new series, Cimbria Bulk Equipment expands its opportunity to offer solutions for solving a vast variety of loading tasks — all with dust elimination as a key parameter.
Cimbria Bulk Equipment supplies dust-free chute systems through a network of agents in more than 30 countries around the world.
