In India, KSR Maritime Projects is seeking to build a port capable of handling 100mt (million tonnes) of cargo at Nakkapalle, costing $4.9 billion. Development will encompass four phases. In the first six years, it will have a 60mt capacity, later being expanded to 100mt. KSR has asked the state government for 3,500 acres of land on which to build a port.
