Private sector operator G3 Canada is to build a new grain terminal at the Port of Trois-Rivières, in Quebec. This will replace an existing facility and, in doing so, boost both efficiency and safety, as well as reducing the environmental impact of handling grain.

The terminal will have an annual handling capacity of 65,000 metric tonnes. Landside access will be via a three-lane gate corridor to ensure a much faster and more efficient system for processing HGV arrivals. There will additionally be three new ship loaders that incorporate dust control technology in line with an ongoing project to reduce the environmental impact of dry bulk handling operations at terminals 16 and 17.

Demolition of the existing grain silos operated by G3 at the port was due to commence in March 2025; construction of their new replacements is scheduled to be completed before the 2027 growing season. In the interim, G3 says it aims to continue collaborating with producers in Quebec through ad hoc facilities at its St-Denis and Quebec locations.

G3 Canada, which was formed in 2015, is a joint venture between Bunge and SALIC, and operates an extensive export-based network of grain silos and port terminals across Canada.
