11 August 2016 Dry Bulk | Ports & Terminals The Indian port of Mundra has set a new record for the handling of coal. This was established by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), which is India’s largest port developer and operator. The record involve discharging 164,914 tonnes of steam coal in a 24-hour period, the consignment having been brought to the port by the Marijeannie. The vessel had on board 167,152 tonnes of steam coal inbound for Adani Power Ltd. It berthed at Mundra ports West Basin and was entirely discharged within 25 hours and 15 minutes. West Basin currently handle up to 60,000,000 tonnes of coal per annum and the above-mentioned record covers the fastest discharge for steam coal at any Indian port. BC
