Anglo American has presented Melco Conveyor Equipment (Pty)
Limited (Melco) with the inaugural Supplier Award for
Sustainability. At a ceremony held in London, members of the
executive committee presented the award to Melco’s executive
chairman, Carsten Spanggaard, in recognition of the company’s

four companies shortlisted globally from all of Anglo American’s
suppliers.
“We are delighted to have received this award”, said
Spanggaard. “Sustainability is central to our customer-focused
approach and we are deeply honoured to have our efforts
validated at such a prestigious event”.
Andrew Hinkly, Anglo American’s group head of supply chain,
said “Through our Supplier Award, we have been able to
communicate, engage and share with suppliers what it takes to
meet our ambition to become the investment, the partner and
the employer of choice”.
“Recipients of these awards have demonstrated an ability to
live our guiding values of safety, care and respect, integrity,
accountability, collaboration and innovation, and integrate them
into their own business processes” added Hinkly.
Cynthia Carroll, Anglo’s CEO, endorsed this, saying “If you can
assure us of your commitment to those values, then we really
can work together”.
