India's New Mangalore Port Trust has revealed that it has handled its largest ever consignment of coal from a single vessel on one day. The 83,751dwt Ikan Kurau offloaded 30,271 tonnes of Australian coking coal on January 15. Coal traffic at the port has increased from 315,000 tonnes in 2004-05 to 1.9 million tonnes in 2008-09 and is showing every sign of continuing the upward trend.
