The Brazilian port of Paranagua forecasts handling 7 million tonnes of fertilizer by the end of the year, divided between urea, potassium chloride and nitrates. The port is responsible for handling 52% of all raw materials for the production of fertilizer in Brazil.
Since January, Paranaguá has discharged double the amount of fertilizer that Rio Grande has handled and four times that passing through the port of Santos. Some months have produced levels of fertilizer traffic not seen for the last eight years. Four companies use the port for fertilizer traffic: Harbor, Rocha Top, Forte Solo and Fospar.
