Sea Commercial Port “Yuzhny” cargo throughput increases by 5,4% in 2018
The state company “Sea Commercial Port “Yuzhny” handled 11,2 mt of cargo for 11 months of 2018, it is 5,4% more than last year. Exported cargo made up 72% of the total volume, imported cargo made up about 20%, transit cargo and cabotage made up 8%.
Volume of exported cargo has increased by 3,7% - to 8 mt – compared to the same period of 2017. Pig iron showed a threefold increase compared to the same period last year (405,2 thous.t). By early December, 2,24 mt of coal have been discharged for metal producers and power stations.
The state company has handled 6,31 mt. of iron ore, 1,74 mt of coke, 1,34 mt of pig iron, 953 thous.t of transit cargo and cabotage. Moreover, 505,5 thous.t of thermal coal were discharged for Ukrainian power stations; grain cargoes and products of their processing made up 240,4 thous.t. Metal products, caustic soda, clay and timber made up 111 thous.t.
The state stevedoring company has accommodated 198 vessels (+15%), half of which is large-capacity vessels (41 Panamax bulk carriers, 50 Capesize vessels, 3 Newcastlemax vessels), and the port has handled approximately 160 thous. of rail cars (+7,7%).
It will be recalled that the total cargo throughput of Sea Commercial Port “Yuzhny” showed a 3,2% increase (more than 10 mt for 10 months) compared to the same time frame of 2017.
