Construction is due to begin in July of the coal terminal at the Mozambican port of Nacala on behalf of the local subsidiary of the Brazilian company CVRD. This represents an investment of $1.6 billion. The main contractor will be the Portuguese company Zagope.The project will also require construction of the 200km railway line, linking the Moatize coal basin to the coast via Malawi. This area has coal reserves of 2.4 million tonnes.
