Cleveland Cascades are completing the design for an order to supply a Free Fall and a Cascade System to the Port of Long Beach, CA, USA.

The 1700 sized Cascade System will be supplied for the purpose of loading Soda Ash, Sulphate and Pyrabor. Each of which are to be loaded at rates of up to 2,000tph (tonnes per hour). With an extended length of 36.5m and a retracted height of 8.4m the Cascade System will include Cleveland Cascades' GRP cones lined with 6mm UHMWPE for abrasion protection.

The Free Fall Tube System will be designed to load Coal and Pet Coke at rates of up to 5,000tph. With an extended length of 37m and retracted height of 8.6m this system will feature Hardox Tubes for abrasion resistance.

Between the two systems there is an expectation of loading circa 6mt per year.

The systems will share a common Fixed head chute and independent pivoting head chutes meaning they will be interchangeable on the common fixed connection loading from the same boom dependent upon the material requirements. The pivoting head chute is to allow for the systems to stow, reducing the retracted height. The systems will each feature independent winches for vertical movement.

This project is a unique pair of systems to be interchangeable between the Free Fall Tube and Cascade Systems to allow the customer maximum flexibility.

The systems are expected to be delivered within 2025 for installation in the port of Long Beach, CA, USA.
