Bedeschi Company, which specializes in the supply of material handling equipment, has designed a new transshipper for the continuous loading of bulk materials such as coal and iron ore into ocean vessels up to Capesize in deep water anchorage.
The long-term co-operation that the company enjoys with Liebherr and Logmarin means that it is always possible to find a suitable tailor-made solutions for all requirements.
After the successful installation of Scorpio’s Zeus barge which has been operating in Indonesia for two years, at the beginning of 2010, Singaporebased Scorpio Logistics awarded Bedeschi a further coal handling contract.
This contract is for the supply of coal handling transshipping equipment to be installed on the Mara vessel, which will operate in India and Indonesia.
The project is being carried out under the surveillance of the Rina Classification Society. The contract includes one conveyor belt system, including all components, as briefly described below:
  • four belt feeders, with a capacity of 2,000tph (tonnes per hour);
  • two slewing/luffing shiploaders, each with a capacity of 3,000tph one trimming device;
  • one barge loader; and two bag filters.
The installation and commissioning of this equipment was completed in November 2010, and the vessel is currently operational in Indonesia.
