The Colombian port of Barranquilla has begun the export of petcoke
in containers, whereas previously it was dispatched in the holds of
bulk carriers. This is being handled by Sociedad Portuaria Regional de
Norte at its dedicated quay located 18 kilometres from the mouth of
the Magdalena River. The petcoke arrives at the port by road from
Boyacá, where it is then placed into big bags and loaded into the
containers.
