The National Transport Commission in Australia has called for a public consultation regarding the National Port Strategy, which it has launched in conjunction with Infrastructure Australia. The project looks at long-term planning in respect of both ports and transport corridors. According to the NTC’s managing director, Nick Dimopoulos, dry bulk exports are expected to double in size over the next decade. The plan has four main priorities: long-term port planning; less bureaucracy in implementing port projects; reduction of terrestrial transport through increased efficiency; more clarity and transparency.
